moth orchid phalaenopsis
Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments »Why are the flower buds falling off of the phalaenopsis (moth) orchid?
I have a phalaenopsis orchid (moth orchid) that I keep indoors and water once a week. I fed it Yates Orchid Food 3 weeks ago, which is suitable for all orchids. The plant looks healthy, however, the flower buds drop off upon light contact. Is the plant sick? What can I do about it?
The Phalaenopsis orchids is one of the easiest and most forgiving of the orchids to grow. Are you moving the plant every day? You said “the buds fall off upon light contact”, do you mean spent flowers or the buds prior to bloom? If the plant is a deep green that’s a very good sign. Its difficult to say without much more info. I grow them in the Philippines and wrote an article on their care that I think will help you. http://budurl.com/k5h9
