The Vanda is an orchid that is a favorite with those who grow orchids. They are native to northern Australia, China and Indonesia. The Vanda orchid is one that requires a lot of food and should be fed once a week with a good nutrient plant food. Do not use fertilizers with nitrogen as this will keep them from producing the beautiful flowers they typically have.

There are many nurseries that have orchids and can fill you in on the requirements for these beautiful flowers. There are also books that can be purchased as well as online resources that will help you to learn about the different kinds of orchids and their requirements.

When you decide to try your hand at growing orchids, you will probably do better to choose one of the more common types. The most common types of orchids are:

* Phalaenopsis

These kinds of orchids can be found at your local nursery or store with a garden center. The ease of growing, the climate and the spot where you are planning to display them are all considerations for growing the most beautiful orchids.
