Reblooming orchids?
My best friend gavae me a Phaleanopsis orchid 2 weeks ago, so she can teach me to be a more “responsible” person. She told me not to let it die because it was her favorite orchid and she has been taking care of it for 2 years now.
She gave it to me in bloom. But after several weeks i noticed that the flowers are starting to wilt one by one and the “stem” like thing holding the flowers is turning yellow. I read some ways on how to rebloom it again but i simply dont get it, especially the parts like: spike, nodes etc. I just dont get it because I dont know where those parts are located.
Could somebody please give me a good, precise step on how to rebloom this nasty orchid of mine. And please tell me where these nodes and spikes are located. Thanks in advance!
P.S. – Why is the stem like thing turning yellow is the plant going to die?!
You don’t have to do anything elaborate. If the stem is yellowing, cut it all the way off. It is not worth the trouble to try for another bloom off the same old stem.
This is also the best time to repot in fresh orchid medium.
