Can rose bushes be planted in the fall? other questions below…?

What are the easiest to care for? I live in Indiana so really cold weather and really hot humid weather will be the environment.

Roses that are grown in containers can be planted any time of year. The only limitation is that there are not many varieties to select from in the fall. For the best selection, purchase bare root plants in the spring.

If you do plant in the fall, do not fertilize until the next spring. The fertilizer will cause the plant to grow instead of hardening off and thus make it more susceptible to freeze damage. Mulch well during the winter.

Good luck.
