Black Baccara Rose Australia or other ‘Black’ Roses?
Hey all,
I don’t know a lot about gardening etc, but I do know that a truly black rose doesnt exist. The closest to black i could find is the Black Baccara Rose. I am searching for the seed or bulb or ‘hip’ or whatever it is that will grow this rose… It will be a gift for my best friend who wants to plant a ‘black’ rose as a memorial – he has a super green thumb and grown beautiful roses and talks a lot about growing the blackest rose he can. I wanted to buy him whatever it is that will grow him this rose… So, I guess my questions are:
-Are there any other ‘Black’ Roses you know of which I could find in Australia?
-Does anyone know where I would acquire one within Aust?
-If I continue to search through google for somewhere to buy them, what should I be searching for? i.e. seeds, bulbs etc? Do I buy a “bush”?
Tis all a tad confusing for a gardening newbie!
Thanks in advance!
Most roses are shipped “bare root”. Which is as it says a bare root with about 6-8 inches of stem above. They look awful and you will think they are dead but…fear not…it will grow. I am in the USA so I don’t know where to look in Australia but on line would be your best bet. Good Luck. Sounds like a great memorial.
